Video: Fabric Software’s Splice for 3ds Max

Fabric Software has posted a video of the upcoming Splice for 3ds Max. Announced last week, the plugin exposes the core of Fabric’s high-performance VFX tools development platform to Max.

Versions of the plugin are already available for creating tools inside Maya, Softimage and Arnold.

Proof of concept: crowds in real time
The video shows a sample workflow between Splice and 3ds Max: in this case, crowd animation, with 600 skinned characters running smoothly in the Max viewport at 24fps, set up in just 100-odd lines of code.

Splice for 3ds Max will form part of Fabric Engine 1.3, due out in August. Fabric Software is calling for TDs and technical artists to act as beta testers. If you’re interested, you can sign up via the link below.
