Allegorithmic has shipped Substance Designer 4.4. The latest update to the games texturing tool adds PSD export and 50 free physically based texture sets.
Convert node graphs to layered Photoshop files
The new export facility lets users create PSD files from Substance Designer’s node graphs, setting up layer groupings and blending modes through a GUI that mimics that of Photoshop itself.
The 50 textures come from online PBR materials library GameTextures.com. Half are already present, the other half will be added by tomorrow, according to Allegorithmic.
Other than that, it’s mainly tweaks and bugfixes this time round. Read a full list here.
Pricing and availability
Substance Designer 4.4 is available for Windows XP+ and Mac OS X 10.6+. A full commercial licence costs $590; and Indie licence, for firms with revenues of under $10,000/year, costs $99.
