Free Cinema Now’s Nelson Carvajal has posted a video montage of every film to have won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects since the category was introduced in its current form in 1977.
The result is a whirlwind tour through effects history, from Star Wars to Life of Pi, taking in some of the most popular movies of the last 35 years – along with some eye-catching flops like What Dreams May Come.
There are no subtitles, beyond the year, but if you do get stuck, Wikipedia has a full run-down of the movies.
