Eye candy: Blur Studio’s ‘A Twist of Fate’ FX breakdown

Monday, January 6th, 2014 | Posted by Jim Thacker

Blur Studio FX artist Dan Chamberlin has posted a breakdown of the fire effects from League of Legends’ ‘A Twist of Fate’ trailer, once memorably described by PC Gamer as showing “a giant serpent eating an on-fire bear”.

There isn’t a lot of information accompanying the video, but you do get to see said serpent and said on-fire bear, in both rendered and untextured forms, and very impressive they look, too.

Chamberlin comments that the biggest technical challenge on the project was simply resolution: “1080p looks great, but voxel resolution can only go so far before you hit the RAM limitation on your machines.”
