Maxon releases Cinema 4D Student edition

Maxon’s latest Cinema 4D demo reel. The free Student edition of the software is now available worldwide.

Maxon has released Cinema 4D R14 Student, the free educational version of its popular 3D package.

Cinema 4D Student offers almost all the features of the $3,695 Studio edition of the software, but lacks support for network rendering and plugins dependent on serial numbers. Licences last for 18 months.

“Maxon remains committed to providing students and educators with easy-to-use 3D software tools,” said Maxon CEO Harald Egel. “We are pleased to offer students this comprehensive introduction to the world of 3D and help them deliver professional results in the real world.”

Now available worldwide
The new educational edition was announced earlier this year, but its availability was initially limited.

The registration procedure varies slightly according to where you are in the world: the US site tells you that you will need an access code, and that only students at participating institutions can sign up; the international page takes you straight to a registration form.
