PRESS RELEASE (Excerpts)
At SIGGRAPH next month in Los Angeles, Shotgun Software will announce Shotgun 4.0 and an upgrade to the pre-release version of Revolver, currently in private beta. Shotgun Software is the leading pipeline tools developer for the visual effects and animation industry. Shotgun is the industry’?s leading production tracking platform and Revolver provides an all-in-one review and approval toolset. Shotgun Software will be exhibiting at the SIGGRAPH conference (Booth #837) at the Los Angeles Convention Center from August 7-9, 2012, and will host its annual User Group Meeting on Tuesday, August 7 at 2:00PM.

Shotgun, a customizable web-based production tracking and collaboration system, adds exciting new features in version 4.0, including a new ?app? framework that provides access to enhanced plug-in style features via a set of web applications. A new Crew Planning app will allow studios to manage resources more effectively and communicate crew schedules to everyone working on the project. The upgrade also includes an updated Review Notes app and a Revolver app for customers enrolled in the Revolver private beta program. More apps will be previewed at SIGGRAPH; the anticipated release date for Shotgun 4.0 is July 30, 2012.

Revolver, announced in April at NAB, is an all-in-one review toolset making it easy for teams in any location to view their latest work in the context of the cut, browse and compare iterations, annotate on images, write notes and collaborate on shots in real-time. A web-based player provides access to the work from any browser or mobile device, and Tweak’s high-end native player RV is deeply integrated to provide real-time playback of high res frames from local storage at the desktop or in the screening room.

New features in Revolver 0.5 (available to private beta customers) include:

  • New notes tool with multiple threads and quick access to task assignments
  • Ability to create multiple versions at once via drag/drop from the web browser
  • Greatly improved web performance and accuracy

Rodeo VFX has been testing Revolver since its private beta debut. “Revolver has now become an indispensable tool on my desktop, and artists no longer wait around for dailies to get notes on their shots,” said Rodeo VFX President/Visual Effects Supervisor Sebastien Moreau.

Shotgun will be demoing these new releases of their pipeline tools and sharing sneak peeks of other upcoming news and projects at its annual ?Client Board Meeting?, held Tuesday August 7 at 2:00-3:30 PM in room 303A at the Los Angeles Convention Center during SIGGRAPH.
