Using a 3Dconnexion input device to navigate 3ds Max. With the release of Service Pack 1 last week, modo 601 now also offers certified support for the full range of 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice.

Luxology has released a service pack for modo 601, adding support for 3Dconnexion input devices.

The SP1 update makes modo the fifth major DCC package supported by the manufacturer’s 3D mice. 3Dconnexion input devices are already compatible with 3ds Max, Maya, Blender and Cinema 4D, as well as Photoshop and a range of CAD packages.

Below, you can see 3Dconnexion’s official announcement. You can read a full list of other fixes and performance improvements in modo 601 SP1 on the Luxology website.

PRESS RELEASE (Excerpts)
3Dconnexion today announced Luxology® modo® 601 includes certified 3Dconnexion 3D mouse support, enabling users to immerse themselves in the powerful animation, modeling, painting, and rendering features of this popular software while enjoying a completely natural way to position and navigate 3D content.

3Dconnexion 3D mice enable artists, animators and designers to intuitively interact with modo 601 content in a way that’s unattainable with a traditional mouse and keyboard, boosting creativity and speed while enhancing comfort by reducing dependency on a standard mouse or tablet. Users working in Orbit Object mode feel like they’re holding the digital model in their hand, a feeling further intensified by 3Dconnexion’s intelligent 3D navigation which automatically adjusts the object’s center of rotation depending on the users point of interest. When working in Camera Walkthrough mode, users can quickly and smoothly position the viewport so they focus on their digital content rather than how to look at it from the right angle.

3Dconnexion support is built into the newest service pack for modo 601 – SP1 – which is currently available for download on the Luxology website.
