Pixologic has posted a good interview with Rango’s model supervisor, Geoff Campbell, and other members of Industrial Light & Magic’s modellling team about the studio’s first animated feature.
As you’d expect, some of the questions are ZBrush-centric, but there’s plenty of other good stuff, including the differences in workflow to ILM’s usual VFX projects, and a brief discussion of why the studio didn’t use the FACS system for facial animation for the movie.
Plus, Pixologic doesn’t miss the opportunity to ask the obvious question: “So what was it like to turn Johnny Depp into a lizard?”
