Pixar characters to feature on US stamps this August

Monday, January 3rd, 2011 | Posted by Jim Thacker

The US Postal Service is to issue a series of five special stamps featuring popular Pixar characters.

According to the official announcement, the ‘Send a Hello stamps’, which go on sale on 19 August, “are a natural outgrowth of the Art of Disney stamp series issued between 2004 and 2008”.

Characters featured include Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story movies, WALL-E, Linguini and Remy from Ratatouille, Carl and Dug from Up and Lightning McQueen and Mater from Cars.

All are lovely choices – although a mean-spirited journalistic part of us does wonder if John Lasseter’s own enthusiasm for Cars got it the nod ahead of the Oscar-winning, higher-grossing, better reviewed (oh, all right – and personal CG Channel favourites) Finding Nemo and The Incredibles.
