Autodesk ships Flame 2021.1

Autodesk has released Flame 2021.1, the next update to its compositing, finishing and effects software, making the software’s new Explorer panel available more widely throughout the interface.

The update also makes side-by-side comparison views available more widely throughout the UI, and adds support for Avid’s DNxUncompressed format.

New Explorer panel and side-by-side Compare views more widely avaiable in the UI
The changes in Flame 2021.1 are primarily workflow improvements, with the new Explorer panel added in Flame 2021 now available more widely throughout the interface.

The dedicated library panel for Timeline FX presets and grabbed references is now available in the Timeline, Conform area, Player panel and on second monitors, as well as the Effects tab.

There are also new options when dragging and dropping a Selective from the Explorer to the viewport or a segment to update only the Matchbox shaders, or to update only the key shapes and tracking.

In addition, side-by-side comparison mode is now available in the Timeline, Conform area and Batch and Effects tabs, and gets workflow improvements in the Player panel.

Other changes include support for DNxUncompressed, Avid’s high-resolution mastering codec.

Pricing and availability
Flame 2021.1 is available for CentOS 7.4/7.6 Linux and macOS 10.13-10.14 and macOS 10.15.1+ on a rental-only basis. Subscriptions now cost $550/month or $4,415/year.
