Eye candy: Maxon’s 2017 Cinema 4D demo reel

Tuesday, October 31st, 2017 | Posted by Jim Thacker

Maxon has just published its new Cinema 4D demo reel, showcasing the best recent motion graphics and visual effects work created using the 3D modelling and animation software.

(Strictly, it’s the ‘Spring 2017’ reel, but being based in the Northern Hemisphere, we thought the full title might confuse – particularly since last year’s reel actually came out during our Spring.)

However, calendrical quibbles aside, the new reel features some amazing motion design work from established favourites like Aixpsonza and Luxx.

But this time, it’s the more photorealistic work that really catches the eye, including Imaginary Forces’ amazing titles for this year’s SXSW Gaming Awards and Wargaming.net’s game cinematics.

There’s also some interesting medical animation by the appropriately named MadMicrobe Studios and some neat fantasy UI design by rising star Jan Sladecko. All in all, we think it was worth the wait.

Super happy to see more coverage in general for C4D. Maxon makes a truly amazing tool, with artists as the prime focus, and technicians are also not ignored (but also not required). I used Maya for 10 years, Softimage for another 10 years, and have never done better work (and done it faster) than I have done with C4D in the past 3 years.

Thank you for covering it and helping to let people know about this great tool.
