Visitors to Gnomon’s Hollywood campus today will get the chance to meet three of the nominees for this year’s Oscar for Best Visual Effects, in the shape of LAIKA’s key staff from Kubo and The Two Strings.
The event – a free panel discussion convened ahead of tonight’s VES Awards, for which Kubo also picked up six nominations – will also be broadcast on Gnomon’s Livestream channel.
Hear award-winning artists and animators in conversation
The session brings together VFX supervisor Steve Emerson, animation supervisor Brad Schiff and director of rapid prototyping Brian McLean.
The three will discuss their work with Emmy Award-winning animator and Gnomon instructor Laura Barbera.
Free to attend, but register online in advance
The panel discussion takes place from 12-1pm today, Tuesday 7 February 2017. It’s free to the public, but you’ll need to register online in advance, and places are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
If you can’t make it to LA in person, you can watch online via the player embedded at the top of this story and ask questions via Twitter using the hashtag #gnomon.
