See Gnomon’s eye-popping 2015 student reel

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015 | Posted by Jim Thacker

The Gnomon School of Visual Effects has released its 2015 student reel: a ten-minute compilation of the best new work created by full-time students at the 2014 CG Student Awards’ School of the Year.

The work on show ranges from 3D takes on The Jungle Book (03:40) and The Bride of Frankenstein (09:20) to the definitive knockout blow (01:45), taking in some beautiful turntables, animations and VFX shots on the way.

If you want to see the pieces in the flesh – or at least, on the walls of a gallery – Gnomon is currently holding a free exhibition at its Hollywood headquarters, which is open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

Full disclosure: CG Channel is owned by the Gnomon School of Visual Effects – but this is still amazing work.

We can’t wait to see these awesome demo reels get uploaded to the 2015 CG Student Awards. Gnomon took out the title of “School of the Year” in 2014. With this type of work, they will probably take the honour again.
