e-on software has released a new version of Ozone, its atmosphere-generation plug-in for 3ds Max, Maya, Softimage, Cinema 4D and LightWave.
Ozone 5 adds support for V-Ray’s Sun and Sky, improved mental ray support, and improved shadowing and rendering algorithms.
PRESS RELEASE (Excerpts)
Ozone 5 implements the Spectral 3™ cutting-edge technologies developed by e-on software for the simulation and rendering of atmospheric effects. Ozone 5 atmospheres provide an accurately simulated environment that affects all scene elements and behaves according to nature’s rules.
Based entirely on real-world atmospheric behavior, the Spectral 3™ engine produces ultra-realistic environments with volumetric clouds, accurate light dispersion and natural phenomena such as Godrays. This technology realistically models the behavior of our planet’s atmosphere to produce all kinds of atmospheric effects.
- New support for V-Ray and advanced support for MentalRay renderers
Ozone 5 is fully compatible with MentalRay’s specific technologies, such as Sun&Sky, Photometric Lights, Distributed Bucket Rendering, etc. Ozone 5 is also fully compatible with V-Ray’s specific Sun and Sky technologies.
- Super-fast rendering technology
Despite the staggering complexity of the atmospheric model it features, Ozone 5 renders its atmospheric effects at blazing speed, thanks to e-on software’s highly optimized technology.
- Cloud Cross Shadowing
Ozone contains break-through algorithms that are capable of rendering extremely detailed volumetric clouds and their associated shadows at an incredible pace. Cloud cross shadowing is fully user controllable allowing clouds to cast shadows on each other.
- Extensive library of over 150 predefined atmospheres
Ozone 5 includes presets for all kinds of atmospheric conditions: bright daytime, bad weather, sunrise, sunset, night time, etc. Customize the atmosphere using dedicated tools and the library of over 140 preset cloud shapes.
Pricing and Availability
Ozone 5 is available in English for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, and on Mac OSX 10.5+ (Mac Intel only) for both 32 and 64 bit.
A single license of Ozone 5 will work with all compatible applications and renderers installed on the end user’s system.
- Ozone 5 for Maya works with MentalRay, Maya software and V-Ray renderers.
- Ozone 5 for 3ds Max works with MentalRay and V-Ray renderers.
- Ozone 5 for Softimage works with MentalRay.
- Ozone 5 for LightWave and Cinema4D works with the native renderer.
Ozone 5 retails at US$295, with upgrades from Ozone 4.0 available for $95. RenderNode network rendering licenses are available at $95 per node.
