Eye candy: stylised new Marvel vs. Capcom 3 trailer

A game that features some of the world’s most famous characters from both comic books and other games is always going to face dilemmas when it comes to deciding what style to render the characters in.

For the new trailer for upcoming beat-’em-up Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, animation studio Polygon Pictures opts to play things fast and loose, mixing cel shading with (slightly) more realistic effects.

For us, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But Hulk and Magneto look pretty good. And we’re certainly not planning to argue with either of them…

    Works nicely as a still, but animated… it looks wrong. Far too shiny. And where’s the ‘partial nudity’ mentioned in the disclaimer? I was looking forward to that. LOL!
