Thursday, July 18th, 2019 | Posted by Jim Thacker

Gnomon is hosting a free 150-minute workshop on developing stylised characters at its Hollywood campus on Thursday 25 July 2019, presented by Netflix Animation’s Leticia Gillett.

The event, Stylized Character Creation: From Concept to Completion, will also be broadcast worldwide on Gnomon’s Twitch channel: you can watch it via the player embedded above.

Discover the art of character development from a veteran of Netflix, DreamWorks and Blizzard
During the session, Gillett – previously both a student at, and instructor for, Gnomon – will discuss her own character development workflow.

As well as her current role as character development artist at Netflix Animation, Gillett has also worked as a character artist for Disney Consumer Products, Blizzard Entertainment and DreamWorks Animation.

During her Gnomon session, she will walk the audience through the creation of one of her recent personal pieces, La Familia, which conveys a clear backstory through simple, stylised forms.

According to Gnomon, the session should provide practical tips and advice on both character design and how to manage your own personal projects.

Free to attend, but register online in advance
