Video game based films have not had it easy, especially Mortal Kombat. To be fair i mindlessly enjoy the first one well the second is a complete abomination. However it seems someone out there decided to make a Mortal Kombat short film starring Michael Jai White (Spawn, The Dark Knight, Black Dynamite) as Jax.
The tone feels off from the video game but I wouldn’t say that is such a bad thing. This feels dark, grim, dirty, and brutal as hell. It feels like what The Dark Knight did for Batman, grounding the universe and its characters in reality. But don’t take my word for it, watch it below and tell us what you think? Can this be the new direction for a line of dark and violent movies the video game franchise deserves? As long as Uwe Boll stays away from it, I love this concept.
