Boris FX releases Sapphire 2024

Boris FX has updated Sapphire, its set of effects plugins for compositing and editing software.

Sapphire 2024 adds a new Dust effect, for adding atmospheric dust to video, and PixelMosh, for creating glitchy video playback effects.

The update also adds 10 new preset lens flares, and 65 new presets for Sapphire Builder.

Sapphire 2024: new Dust and PixelMosh effects
Sapphire 2024 adds two new effects: S_Dust, for adding atmospheric dust to shots without particle simulation, and S_PixelMosh, for mimicking glitchy video playback.

It’s a versatile datamoshing effect, and quite a difficult once to describe, but you can see the range of possibilities in the video above. It’s also available as a transition.

Sapphire 2024: updates to existing features
The update also adds 10 new presets to Sapphire’s Lens Flare effects, and 65 new presets in Builder (S_Effect and S_Builder), Sapphire’s toolset for building custom effects and transitions.

In addition, time-based effects are now available in S_Effect and S_Builder, and can be rendered in the Preset Browser.

Pricing and system requirements
Sapphire 2024 is available for a range of compositing and editing software, including After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Flame and Nuke, on Windows 10+, CentOS/RHEL 7+ Linux and/or macOS 10.14+.

It costs $1,695 for the Avid and Adobe/OFX editions, or $2,795 for a multi-host licence.
