Alex Alvarez
Director
Alex is founder and director of The Gnomon Workshop and of the Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood. Having dedicated the last decade to educating students and professional artists around the world, Alex has helped change the face of computer graphics and design education. He has been published in industry magazines, websites and books - plus he has taught courses at several major trade conferences. Alex is president of the Los Angeles Maya Users Group and sits on the Advisory Boards for Highend3D.com and CGsociety. He continues to work on personal and professional projects, recently as a creature development artist on the James Cameron film Avatar. Prior to Gnomon, Alex worked for Alias|Wavefront as a consultant and trainer for studios in the Los Angeles area. Alex is an alumnus of the Art Center College of Design and the University of Pennsylvania.
Matt McCorkell
Editorial Director
After studying at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto Matt pursued further studies at the Fudan University in Shanghai before graduating the University of Oklahoma in 2003. Shortly thereafter he worked in Graphic Design for a few years. Then worked on a guide to Japan before ultimately following his love of beauty and nature to Antarctica where he took a lot of pictures of birds and ice. Finally arriving in LA he found the an art school for 3D modelling and Animation and dove deeper into the world of CG.
Travis Bourbeau
Executive Producer
After a decade of experience in concept art and modelling for games and film, Travis moved from Massive Black to Gnomon Workshop. Now he lends heis talents to CG Channel. When he isnt working on CG channel artist relations he still finds time to produce DVDs and events for the Gnomon Workshop.
Stéphan Dubé
News Editor/Graphic Designer
Stéphan has had diverse experience in the CG business.
Starting as a graphic designer, he made the move to CG approximately 10
years ago, troubleshooting complex issues for clientele as a technical
support specialist for Softimage in Montreal. From there he worked in
television production on shows such as Galidor and Fred the Cavemen. He
then returned to technical support, this time at Autodesk (formerly known as
Discreet). Stéphan's desire to gain experience in production led him to Ubisoft
where he worked on video games as a level artist and a UI Designer.
Stéphan continues to work in production on a contract base, and providing
CgChannel readers with up to date news and coverage in the 3D industry.
Robert Nelms
Video & Film Editor
Robert comes to cg channel through his background in video and film editing. Starting witIn recent years he has also been involved in shooting and editing a feature documentary movie. Last year saw him filming on location in Cuba for a documentary on Cuban artists.
Michael Paskar
Web Developer
As a transplant from Baltimore MD, and award winning designer, Michael has spent the last 8 years settling down and working in LA. After finishing college, Michael has continued to develop his artistic and design skills working both as staff and freelance in the web-design/entertainment industry. today you will find michael in-front of his computer either exploring the web or spending time with his son Adam playing games.
Daniele Volpe

Dani has recently moved to LA from Sicily, Italy. with his hands on just about everything pertaining to web-design he has become an integral part of cg channel. Dani’s experience comes from years of freelance work as a network administrator/ web designer for many ecommerce/personal websites.
Mischa Allen

An alumnus of Cal State University Northridge, Mischa grew up in Los Angeles raised in the entertainment industry by her actress/writer/producer mother. They say apples don’t fall far from the tree, and they don’t because once she graduated, Mischa spent the next 10 years doing sales, marketing and PR in the entertainment and independent film industries. With these experiences, Mischa looks forward to bringing a unique and fresh perspective to the CGChannel family.
