He’s designed some pretty amazing and creepy creatures over his career. His work was featured in films such as Men in Black II, Alien vs Predator and Blade III. Some of his personal work is probably even more disturbing that the stuff we’ve seen from him on the big screen. He seems to understand the emotional and psychological dynamic of fear itself. He also has a remarkable ability to twist human anatomy into something totally unexpected. If he had the power, he’d use his brush to transform all of us into colored fur-balls. Read on to know more!
CGC: First of all, does your Mom knows and understand what it is you do for a living? (My mother’s conception of my job is that I spend my days in front of a plastic box pushing buttons…)
Carlos: Heh, Yes, actually my mother is a huge Monster movie fan and both my mother and father are very much into what it is that I do for a living. The other day as a matter of fact they came up to visit me for a couple of days and I had the chance to show them how I can paint on the computer on an empty canvas. They understand that I draw and paint and sculpt because they'd seen me do it since I was a kid but they didn't quite understand how the computer fit into the whole thing until I showed them that day. They loved it.
