Epic Games releases free TwinMotion update

Epic Games has released a free update to TwinMotion, its Unreal-Engine-based real-time visualisation software, adding a live link to SketchUp and a new pack of readymade grass assets.

The software itself is also available as a free download until November 2019.

Updated 12 November 2019: Epic has now announced that Twinmotion will remain available as a free download until Twinmotion 2020 ships in the first quarter of next year.

New live link to SketchUp, plus 25 readymade grass assets
The August 13 update – it doesn’t seem to have a formal version number – is the first Epic Games has made to TwinMotion since it acquired the software from previous owner Abvent in May.

The main change is a new live link to SketchUp, enabling TwinMotion users to make changes to assets inside the architectural sketching software and see them transferred to TwinMotion in real time.

TwinMotion already includes similar live links to Revit and ArchiCAD.

The update also adds a new pack of 25 readymade grass assets for use in TwinMotion scenes, and reworks the existing seven flower assets.

Other than that, it’s mainly bugfixes: you can find a full changelog via the link below.

Pricing and system requirements
Twinmotion is available for Windows 7+ and macOS 10.13.6+. The software is free until 2020.
