Amazon ships Lumberyard 1.20

Amazon has released Lumberyard 1.20, the latest beta of the game engine and development environment, adding a new PhysX Force Region component and new options for handling animation transitions.

The release also updates the Asset Processor’s Faster Scanning Mode, designed to reduced startup times.

New features in the Animation Editor and physics system
New artist features in Lumberyard 1.20 include the option to interrupt an animation transition that is already in progress with another transition, and blend to the new animation state.

Suggested use cases include interrupting a character attack with another attack in fighting games.

The update also introduces a new PhyX Force Region component, making it possible to apply a physics force to entities within a user-defined region of a level.

There are also a number of new audio features; and the Fast Scanning Mode added to the Asset Processor in Lumberyard 1.18, designed to reduce startup times for the Lumberyard editor, has been updated.

Availability and system requirements
Lumberyard 1.20 is available now. The editor runs on Windows 7 and above.

The engine is free to use for developing offline and local multiplayer games, including source code access; online games must use Amazon Web Services, charged at Amazon’s standard AWS rates.
