Design Connected releases Connecter 1.7

Online 3D furniture model library Design Connected has released Connecter 1.7, the latest version of its free visual asset browser.

The update adds support for Substance materials, and adds previews for Revit and AutoCAD files.

A standalone model and material browser with tight integration to 3ds Max and Cinema 4D
First released in 2016, Connecter is a standalone visual browser and asset manager for 3D models and materials with tight integration to 3ds Max – and, since last year, Cinema 4D.

The software enables users to browse assets in a range of common 3D formats, including OBJ, FBX and 3DS, plus native 3ds Max, Cinema 4D and SketchUp files.

Each file is displayed with a preview image and summary information, and users have the option to filter assets, assign them to virtual categories or mark favourites.

Users can also manage external files referenced within 3ds Max scenes within Connecter; or add or replace objects within existing scenes by dragging assets from the software.

New in Connecter 1.7: support for Substance materials
New features in Connecter 1.7 include support for materials in Adobe’s Substance format.

Substance .sbsar files are displayed with real-time rendered previews, with a choice of either HDR or five-point lighting. Users can switch between the available material presets directly inside Connector.

Connecter also now displays thumbnails and previews for Revit .rvt and .rfa files and AutoCAD .dwg files.

Availability and system requirements
Connecter 1.7 is available for Windows only. The software is free to download and use. Design Connected also offers linked commercial services, including shared online workspaces and its own model library.
