ftrack releases ftrack Review

ftrack has officially released ftrack Review, its new cloud-based review and approval tool.

The product will be on show at NAB 2019 next week, alongside ftrack Studio, the company’s original cloud-based production tracking system.

A streamlined version of ftrack for users who just need shot review tools
First announced in 2017, and rolled out in early access last year, ftrack Review is a “streamlined” edition of ftrack aimed at individual artists and small teams as well as studios.

It’s focused purely on shot review and approval, lacking the project scheduling and production tracking tools of ftrack Studio, and is priced accordingly lower.

It enables clients and collaborators to add timestamped comments to files, including the option to annotate images directly, and outputs a PDF-format summary of a review session.

Sessions can be given expiry dates to prevent anyone accessing the content once a review is over; or the platform provides the option to disable individual user accounts.

There are also simple version-management capabilities: uploading an updated version of a file automatically versions up the asset, providing that the file name remains unchanged.

The system is browser-based, working on any standard desktop machine or mobile without the need to install software, and supports a standard range of 2D image and video files, though not 3D file formats.

Early adopters include The Mill and UK animation studio Blue Zoo.

Pricing and system requirements
ftrack Review starts at $15/month/user, which provides access for an unlimited number of projects and reviewers, plus 250GB of online storage. Annual subscriptions are discounted until 31 May 2019.

It’s a standalone product, although ftrack says that its new client review player will also be rolled out in ftrack Studio itself, which starts at $25/month/user.

Both platforms are cloud-based, and should work with any standard web browser.
