Hear The Third Floor discuss the future of visualisation

Legendary studio The Third Floor will be discussing the future of previs, postvis, and all-other-things-vis at Visualization: Past, Present, and Future, a free event at Gnomon’s Hollywood campus later this month.

The presentation and Q&A session, which take place in the evening of Thursday 24 January 2019, will also be broadcast worldwide via Twitch: you can watch along via the player embedded above.

A unique insight into the future of visualisation for VFX, game development and entertainment
Founded in 2004 by a group of visual effects veterans, The Third Floor was a prime mover in the emerging visualiation market: initially previs, but now encompassing pitchvis, techvis and postvis.

Describing itself as “the world’s largest previsualization company”, the firm now works across film, TV, commercials, theme park experiences, and most recently VR and real-time projects.

Its recent work includes movies like Black Panther, Venom and Aquaman and TV series like Game of Thrones, while its clients range from Disney, Netflix and Amazon Studios to Pepsi, Mercedes and Levi’s.

In the Gnomon talk, a panel of five key staff from The Third Floor will look back over the company’s 15-year history, and discuss where the industry is headed next.

Speakers include Dane Smith, The Third Floor’s global head of business development, Addison Bath, its global head of R&D, and Doug Lefler, its head of story.

The session promises to offer unique insights into the art, technology and business of visualisation, and the growing role it plays in industries ranging from gaming to location-based media.

The event will also conclude with a Q&A session, making it possible for audience members to ask follow-up questions of their own.
