Boris FX makes Continuum VR Unit available free

Boris FX has made the Continuum VR Unit, its collection of filters for editing and finishing 180-degree and 360-degree video, available free until 31 May 2018.

The plugins, which are normally sold for $199, are compatible with a range of common editing and compositing software, including After Effects, Premiere Pro, Nuke and DaVinci Resolve.

Five GPU-accelerated tools for common tasks when editing 360-degree footage
Introduced last year, the Continuum VR Unit is the latest of Boris FX’s modular editions of the tools available in Continuum 11, its popular collection of effects plugins.

It comprises five GPU-accelerated filters for working with 180-degree and 360-degree video for virtual reality projects, including tools for reorienting, blurring and sharpening footage, and fixing flicker.

The fifth tool, VR Insert, enables users to insert titles, logos or secondary clips in 360-degree space.

System requirements and availability
The Continuum 11 VR Unit is available for After Effects and Premiere Pro CS 5.5+, Nuke 9+, DaVinci Resolve 12.5+, Media Composer 6.5+, FCP X and Vegas Pro 14+. The licence works across all host platforms.

The free download is a perpetual node-locked licence, so it will never expire, but you don’t get support or any render nodes, and you can’t use it to claim a discounted upgrade to the full edition of Continuum 11.

It’s also worth noting that funny things may happen if you install it on a machine with an older version of the full Continuum suite installed, so read the FAQs before proceeding.
