Abvent ships Artlantis 7

Abvent has released Artlantis 7, the latest version of its architectural rendering software, adding adaptive anti-aliasing and improved sampling for artificial lights.

The firm has also released Twinlinker, a new web app for creating and sharing virtual tours of 3D scenes rendered in Artlantis and its sister product Twinmotion.

Few new features in the core renderer
Although the new features page of the Artlantis product website has a fairly long list of tools, most were actually added in versions 6.0 and 6.5 of the software.

Those actually new in Artlantis 7.0 include adaptive anti-aliasing, which should reduce render times without affecting the quality of the final image. You can see some early user tests here.

The sampling method used for artificial lights has also been updated: according to Abvent, it “improves the energy diffusion of the light sources in [a] 3D scene” and results in brighter glossy reflections.

And that, as far as we can see, is that, at least for the core software. So far, the feature list has been greeted with a pretty resounding ‘meh’ on the Artlantis forum.

New Twinlinker app for creating and sharing virtual tours of scenes rendered in Artlantis
Outside of Artlantis itself, Abvent has released Twinlinker, a new web app for creating and sharing ‘virtual visits’ of architectural scenes online.

The tool enables users to link images and videos rendered in Artlantis or sister product Twinmotion into virtual tours that can be viewed in a standard web browser.

The free Basic edition creates five visits, and provides 10GB of online storage, but Artlantis 7 users get 12 months’ access to the Extended edition, which creates unlimited visits and provides 200GB of storage.

Pricing and availability
Artlantis 7.0 is available now for Windows and Mac. The Render edition, designed for still images, costs €500 (around $680); the Studio edition, which adds support for animations and panoramas, costs €990 ($1,350).
