Noitom launches Perception Neuron/FaceRig Studio bundle

Motion-capture hardware firm Noitom has teamed up with software developer Holotech Studios to provide a new bundle deal on the firms’ Perception Neuron and FaceRig products.

The bundle makes it possible to buy a 32-sensor full-body inertial motion-capture system plus a single licence of the markerless facial mocap software for under $1,750.

Inexpensive systems for full-body and facial motion capture
First launched four years ago by a successful Kickstarter campaign, Noitom’s Perception Neuron hardware offers indie artists a range of affordable full-body inertial mocap solutions.

Version 2 of the hardware makes it possible to buy a 32-sensor kit, including the body straps and gloves to which the sensors attach, for $1,499.

On top of that, the new bundle deal includes a one-seat licence of FaceRig Studio, Holotech Studios’ markerless facial mocap system, normally priced at $299.99.

The technology is probably best known as being the basis for Holotoch Studios’ own FaceRig app, but has since been released as a standalone mocap tool capable of exporting data in FBX format.

A saving of $50 or more on standard pricing
At its current pricing of $1,748, the new bundle deal represents a saving of just over $50.

However, Noitom says that existing FaceRig users can buy its hardware at a 10% discount – which, if we’ve done the maths correctly, means that you actually save more money if you just buy the software directly first.

If you don’t already have one, you’ll also need to factor in the price of a head mount for a camera, which Noitom currently sells for an MSRP of $89.99, or $249.99 for a kit with the camera included.

Separate bundle deals for iClone and Biomechanics of Bodies
Noitom also offers bundle deals of 32-sensor Perception Neuron set-ups with Reallusion’s iClone software, which added facial motion-capture capabilities last year.

They’re all currently on sale in Noitom’s online store at considerable discounts, putting the cost on a par with that of the FaceRig Studio bundle.

There is also a separate bundle deal for the more research-focused software Biomechanics of Bodies, which comes with an 18-sensor Perception Neuron system.
