Watch Gnomon’s Anatomy Lab: The Art of Creature Design on Livestream.com. Gnomon’s highly anticipated Anatomy Lab event returns, bringing celebrated 2D and 3D artists to the stage to inspire and educate. The event kicks off at 11 AM (PT) on September 9th with live animal sketching by Andrea Adams, featuring animal expert Mollie Hogan and Boxer, the beautiful serval.

Gnomon – School of Visual Effects, Games and Animation is holding the latest of its popular free Anatomy Lab workshops at its Hollywood campus this Saturday, 9 September 2017.

The full-day event, which can be viewed online via the player embedded above, provides practical guidance in sketching, painting and sculpting CG creatures – plus the chance to draw a serval from life.

Masterclasses in sketching, painting and sculpting 3D creatures from leading film and games artists
The fourth in Gnomon’s popular series of Anatomy Lab events, this year’s workshop focuses on designing stylised creatures.

The day kicks off with a session on sketching animals from life from Gnomon instructor Andrea Adams and Mollie Hogan, executive director of nonprofit conservation organisation The Nature of Wildworks.

The pair will be accompanied on stage by Boxer the serval, providing a rare opportunity to draw this native African member of the cat family from life.

They will be followed by movie concept artist and illustrator Chris Ayers, who will be revealing the Photoshop workflow he uses to create images for The Daily Zoo, his online sketchbook.

Krystal Sae Eua, The Mill’s VES Award-nominated modelling and texturing lead, will also be providing a live demo of her workflow: in this case, sculpting Boxer the serval live in ZBrush.

The event will be closed by Riot Games 3D artist Servando Lupini, who will demonstrate the digital painting workflow he uses to create colourful, stylised images of the type shown in his ArtStation gallery.
