The three-day event, which takes place from 27-29 July 2017, includes presentations by the world’s leading Substance Painter and Substance Designer artists, plus a keynote on the future of the software.

Two days of detailed masterclasses on Substance Painter and Substance Designer
Substance Days 2017 begins with a series of half-day masterclasses on topics ranging from creating ground, rock and foliage textures to building an artist-driven Substance pipeline.

Speakers include CD Projekt RED senior environment artist Mark Foreman, Visceral Games senior material artist Ben Nadler and Treyarch weapon artist Ethan Hiley.

In addition, Insomniac Games character artist Henrique Naspoli will be revealing how he textured a detailed character based on Sonya Blade from the Mortal Kombat series of games, created as a personal project.

Each one costs $539, with discounts available if you book more than one. You can register online here.

In addition, on Friday 28 July, Allegorithmic CEO Sébastien Deguy will deliver a 90-minute keynote, including a glimpse of the company’s roadmap for the Substance products.

The keynote is free to attend, and will be broadcast worldwide on Gnomon’s Livestream channel, as will the following day’s artist presentations.

Each lasts 40 minutes, and explores practical techniques for using Substance Painter and Substance Designer in game development, visual effects and architectual visualisation.

Highlights include tips for speeding up your workflow from Cliff Schonewill, senior environment artist at Sony Santa Monica, and a chance to see The Mill’s Sharlene Lin break down the materials from her VFX projects.

To attend the free presentations in person, you will need to register online in advance, but you don’t need to register to watch the Livestream.
