Visit The Art of Environment Storytelling for Video Games


Gnomon has announced The Art of Environment Storytelling for Video Games, a free afternoon event in which artists from Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward and Monolith will reveal the secrets of their craft.

The event takes place at Gnomon’s Hollywood campus on Saturday 29 April, or you can watch online via the video player embedded above.

Practical tips and creative advice on environment design for AAA games
The four-hour event will provide practical insights into the art of creating environments for AAA titles, beginning with a close look at texturing and shading.

Speakers include Josh Lynch, senior environment artist at Monolith, Rogelio Olguin, environment modeling and texture artist at Naughty Dog, and Brian Recktenwald, environment artist at Naughty Dog.

The afternoon will culminate in a session from Infinity Ward art director Brian Horton on how game worlds are brought to life through visual storytelling. There will also be a chance to network with the speakers.

Free to attend, but register online in advance
The Art of Environment Storytelling for Video Games takes place at Gnomon’s Hollywood campus from 12-4pm on Saturday 29 April 2017. It’s free to attend, but you’ll need to register online first.

The event will also be broadcast live on Gnomon’s Livestream channel, with the option to ask questions via Twitter using the hashtag #gnomon.
