New Gnomon video: Multi Pass Rendering and Compositing

The Gnomon Workshop has released Multi Pass Rendering and Compositing: a guide to advanced rendering techniques in Maya, V-Ray and Nuke, recorded by Psyop and Digital Domain veteran Robby Branham.

A detailed guide to advanced rendering and compositing workflows
In the video, which lasts for over four hours, Branham runs through a range of multi-pass rendering and compositing techniques to speed up artists’ workflows and provide more control over the final image.

Render passes demonstrated include point position, facing ratio, ambient occlusion and normal passes.

The tutorial explores how to streamline render layer, render pass and compositing tree set-ups; and discusses 2.5D relighting using VRayLightSelect to help fine-tune 3D lighting in a 2D environment.

Branham also demonstrates deep rendering and compositing workflows, exploring how to manage the complex data they generate, and how to improve their stability within the 3D rendering pipeline.

About the artist
Senior 3D generalist and compositing artist Robby Branham began his career in entertainment production in 2009. Since then, he has worked for firms including Psyop, Digital Domain, Pixomondo, and Zoic Studios.
