Gnomon releases Creature Modeling for Production

The Gnomon Workshop has released Creature Modeling for Production: a complete guide to modelling a sci-fi creature in Modo and ZBrush, recorded by Guerilla Games senior character artist Ben Erdt.

A detailed guide to organic and hard-surface modelling techniques
In the video, which lasts for a shade under seven hours, Erdt shares his workflow for creating an armored alien character, from 2D concept sketch to final production model ready for rigging and animation.

The tutorial explores how to create the base sculpt in ZBrush, prepare it for export, then retopologise the geometry in Modo, finishing the armour plates with the software’s regular modelling tools.

Final surface details are created back in ZBrush.

According to Gnomon, “For those interested in both organic and hard-surface modelling, this title offers an in-depth look into how to achieve professional results using an efficient and production-proven workflow.”
