Gnomon is holding a free two-and-a-half hour masterclass in landscape illustration techniques in Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop at the school’s Hollywood campus this Thursday, 10 November.

The event, which will be broadcast worldwide on Gnomon’s Livestream channel, is hosted by veteran illustrator Cliff Cramp and Cloud Atlas matte painter Jason Dunn.

Essential skills for landscape illustrators and digital painters
The evening kicks off with a session from illustrator Cliff Cramp, whose clients include Disney, 20th Century Fox, Nickelodeon and Lucasfilm, and whose credits include the packaging for the Star Wars Blu-rays.

Cramp will be demonstrating his workflow in Painter, including a live demo of Painter 2017.

He will be followed by concept and matte artist Jason Dunn, art director at Warshaw Blumenthal and matte painter at The Mill, whose credits include Cloud Atlas, After Earth and The Vampire Diaries.

Dunn will focus on workflow in Photoshop.

Both sessions will explore the key skills needed to create successful landscape illustrations, including how to define vantage and focal points, plus tips for establishing shape, form, colour, contrast, and temperature.
