Gnomon ships Introduction to Redshift for Maya

The Gnomon Workshop has released Introduction to Redshift for Maya, a new starter guide to the increasingly popular production renderer recorded by Naughty Dog technical artist Christophe Desse.

The four-and-a-half-hour training video is aimed both at artists hoping to switch to Redshift from another renderer, and those completely new to CG software.

Everything you need to know to integrate Redshift into your workflow
In the video, Desse – one of Redshift’s earliest users – shares his experience with harnessing the power of GPU rendering.

The tutorial covers all of Redshift’s core features, including materials, texturing, subsurface scattering, depth of field, motion blur, photometric exposure, render proxies, physical sun/sky lighting and GI.

Desse also illustrates how to set up a backplate for lighting/shadow integration with live-action elements.
