Xfrog is running one of its periodic giveaways of free 3D plants from its XfrogPlants libraries. There are 33 species available and, according to Xfrog’s newsletter, a total of 160 individual models.

The company updates the species available each time, so even if you’re already downloaded models from one of its previous giveaways, you should still find something new.

A range of plant types in over 10 common file formats
As usual, the current set of free models covers a range of plant types, including temperate and tropical trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants including cacti, flowers and oats.

Each one comes in a range of formats, including 3DS, OBJ and the native formats of 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, LightWave, Maya, MicroStation, Modo, Terragen and Vue; plus V-Ray 3.2 for 3ds Max and V-Ray 3.1 for Maya.

Downloads also include billboard images of the plants on transparent backgrounds, and project files in XFR format, the native format for Xfrog, the firm’s self-titled procedural vegetation-generation software.

In addition, the company is making six species of plants from its 2D libraries available for free.

Xfrog 5.5 for Cinema 4D and Maya also available
In separate news, Xfrog has released Xfrog 5.5 for Cinema 4D and Maya. The updates make Xfrog compatible with the latest releases of its host software, Cinema 4D R18 and Maya 2017.
