Gnomon is offering a unique chance to discover Industrial Light & Magic’s advice on applying to the studio and tips for building a successful career in visual effects at a free event at its Hollywood campus this Thursday.

Advice on job applications and VFX careers from senior ILM recruiters
The ILM Perspective: Careers, Recruiting, and Industry Advice features talks from ILM senior recruiter Lori Beck and senior manager Jennifer Coronado on the history of the legendary VFX studio, and how to apply for jobs.

As well as providing insiders’ advice on job applications and preparing for interviews, the session will also feature a discussion of what major studios expect from new recruits.

In addition, generalist artist Sonja ‘Sony’ Christoph and hard surface modeler Joseph ‘Jay’ Machado will disucss their own career paths, and reveal the skills that led to them landing jobs at ILM in San Francisco.

As well as being invaluable for students and recent graduates, Gnomon says that “professionals will also gain insightful tips about hiring, collaborating, and developing skills for successful careers”.

Free to attend, but register online in advance
The ILM Perspective: Careers, Recruiting, and Industry Advice takes place at Gnomon’s Hollywood campus from 7.30-9.30pm on Thursday 4 August 2016. Unlike many Gnomon events, it will not be broadcast on Livestream.

The event is free to attend, but you’ll need to register online in advance – and you’d be well advised to get in quickly, as places are filling up fast.
