Tachyon Render promises real-time PBR in Cinema 4D

Uppercut Software & Animation Solutions has posted a teaser for Tachyon Render, a promising real-time physically based render engine for Cinema 4D.

The video has been attracting a lot of comment on community forums this week for the combination of raw render speed and image quality on display, even in this early prototype.

Unlike most GPU-based renderers, Tachyon Render isn’t an unbiased raytracer, but closer to a game engine: it’s based on OpenGL rather than OpenCL or CUDA, and uses deferred rendering.
