Next Limit releases RealFlow 2015.1

Next Limit developer Ivan Alduan has posted a series of sneak peek videos showing the new features in the upcoming RealFlow 2015.1: particularly the changes to the Dyverso solvers.

The GPU-accelerated Dyverso solvers, introduced in RealFlow 2015 earlier this year, promise speed boosts of 10x over their old, CPU-based equivalents.

However, in the initial release, Dyverso domains couldn’t interact with one another, or with the RealWave toolset, soft bodies, or wet maps.

That looks to have been resolved in the 2015.1 update, with two of the videos – the one at the top of the story, and one you may have seen on our Facebook feed – showing Dyverso in use to simulate immiscible fluids.

As well as interacting with other Dyverso domains, Dyverso properties can now be controlled with texture maps, as the latest video (above) demonstrates.

According to Alduan, the simulation took under 10 minutes on a machine with a top-of-the-range Quadro K6000 GPU, with particle meshing taking less than three minutes.

Updated 9 December: RealFlow 2015.1 is out.

In his blog post announcing the update, RealFlow product specialist Luis Miguel Mora refers to it as RealFlow 2015 patch 9_1_1_0186, but the new features are the same as those shown in the videos above.
