Allegorithmic integrates Iray into Substance Designer

Allegorithmic has released Substance Designer 5.3, the latest update to the texture-creation software, integrating Nvidia’s GPU-accelerated Iray renderer into the application.

Iray is integrated as an alternative viewport within Substance Designer, meaning that users can switch between it and the original renderer.

Post-processing effects from the Yebis 2 middleware integrated into the software in version 4.3 can also be applied to the Iray viewport for colour correction, tone mapping, glare and depth of field.

Substance Designer joins 3ds Max and DAZ Studio on the list of DCC tools that integrate Iray natively. An Iray plugin for Maya is also now in beta.

Pricing and availability
Substance Designer 5.3 is available for Windows and Mac OS X. The update is free to registered users; new seats cost $149 for the Indie licence, available to anyone earning under $100K/year, or $590 for the Pro licence.
