Lighting TDs Arvid Schneider and Rico Koschmitzky have released arViewportRegionRender, a free region rendering tool for MtoA, the Maya plugin for Solid Angle’s Arnold renderer, plus a couple of companion tools.

Region rendering, texture converion and material ID assignment for MtoA users
ArViewportRegionRender, which has been used on two feature films, has a lot of neat features, including options to store and revert lighting settings and to render animations and step through frames in the viewport.

Schneider has also released two other new tools: arTextureSwitch, for managing and converting files to Arnold’s .tx format; and arMaterialIDManager, a simple material ID assignment tool.

All three can be found, along with Schneider’s older tools, in his free arUtils collection.

Pricing and availability
All of the tools are free, and should run on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
