Free non-commercial version of FurryBall ships

FurryBall 4.8 in action. Developer AAA studio has just released a free, non-watermarked version of the GPU-based production renderer for 3ds Max, Cinema 4D and Maya, intended for non-commercial use.

AAA studio has released a free non-commercial edition of FurryBall, its GPU-based production renderer for 3ds Max, Cinema 4D and Maya.

Some restrictions, but fine for student or demo work
Unlike the previous non-commercial version of the software, which was sold for €299, the new version does impose some restrictions on the user.

First up, render output is slowed down three times (the render actually completes in the usual time, but the watermark isn’t removed until the time limit), although viewport rendering is unaffected.

Render resolution is also capped at full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels).

The non-commercial edition isn’t time-limited, although you do have to keep reactivating it online after every 30 days of usage.

Pricing and availability
FurryBall 4.8 Free is available for 3ds Max 2013+, Cinema 4D R15+ and Maya 2010+, running on 64-bit Windows operating systems only. You’ll need a fairly powerful Nvidia GPU to make best use of it.
