The Foundry has released a free Sketchfab kit for Modo, enabling users to publish and share 3D models via the online platform from directly within the software.

The news makes Modo the third application to support Sketchfab natively, following Photoshop and Blender.

Publish models to view anywhere, in any WebGL browser
Launched in 2012, Sketchfab works with any WebGL-enabled browser, including those on mobile devices, and enables users to upload 3D models in most standard file formats.

Once uploaded, models can be viewed and manipulated interactively, shared directly on social media, or embedded into most websites by cutting and pasting a few lines of HTML code.

Sketchfab is also doing some impressive work on physically based rendering, due to roll out later this year.

Availability
The Sketchfab kit for Modo is available as a free download to registered users from The Foundry’s website. It works with Modo 601 and above. You’ll also need to register on the Sketchfab website for an API key.

A free Sketchfab account gives you unlimited uploads of models up to 50MB in size; Pro accounts start from $10/month and provide additional features including password-protection and increased upload sizes.

Sketchfab also provides free exporters for common DCC and CAD tools, the Unity game engine, and Minecraft.
