Mix digital colours like paint with MixColors 1.2
Anastasiy has released MixColors 1.2, an update to its – or his: the developer has the same name as the firm – Photoshop colour-mixing plugin. (Actually, it came out last month, but we felt it was worth covering.)
Mix digital colours like real paints
The tool is physically accurate, enabling users to mix colours as if they were real paints, and there is an option to select a colour with the Eyedropper tool and have it mix automatically with the one currently selected.
Other than that, you get pretty much what you’d expect in a tool of this type, including the option to save colours as swatches, and to display a complete history of all the colours you’ve mixed.
According to the developer, the workflow was inspired by watching artists at Disney and Sony at work.
Version 1.2 improves the mixing algorithm and improves the UI when the panel is minimised or displayed on a small screen. You can also attach Anastasiy’s MagicPicker colour wheel plugin and use the two panels as one.

MixColors is available for Photoshop CS3 and above on Windows and Mac OS X. It costs $19.
