Eye candy: Gnomon’s new Best of Term awards

The Gnomon School of Visual Effects has announced its Best of Term awards for Winter 2014, recognising the best work done by students at the leading US CG school.

The Grand Prize winner was Daniel Kho’s rather self-satisfied-looking vampire, created in two weeks in Maya, ZBrush, V-Ray, Mudbox and Photoshop from a concept from Cory Loftis.

But as usual, there’s a lot of great work to check out in the other categories, ranging from matte painting through hard-surface modelling to lighting and compositing.

At the top of the story, you can see one of our own personal favourites. Eevee Saucedo’s winning character animation shows Bill, who is positively bursting with ‘adequatulence’ – particularly in the chest department.
