Gnomon ships new Gavriil Klimov concept art training

The Gnomon Workshop has released Design Techniques for 3D Concept Art, a new tutorial in which top concept artist Gavriil Klimov demonstrates his workflow for creating sci-fi designs in 3ds Max, KeyShot and Photoshop.

Fast, efficient 3D techniques for entertainment concept design
A freelance artist whose clients include MPC, Method Studios and Guerilla Games, Klimov regards his use of 3D in the design phase of a project as critical to his success.

Accordingly, the tutorial begins with hard-surface modelling techniques in 3ds Max, before taking the 3D concept into KeyShot to design materials, shading and lighting.

KeyShot’s intuitive workflow enables Klimov to quickly generate photorealistic images for client review, then refine the final render in Photoshop by adding hand-painted details and lens effects.

According to Gnomon, “For those interested in learning the latest techniques being used by designers in the entertainment industry, this lecture offers an inspiring perspective by one of the industry’s leading artists.”

About the instructor
Gavriil Klimov attended Art Center College of Design before going on to work at Pixar, Blizzard Entertainment and Rhythm & Hues. He is currently travelling the world while working freelance on film and game projects.

Design Techniques for 3D Concept Art is available now as a digital download, price $49.
