German developer [0x1] is to preview IrayForMaya, its native implementation of Nvidia’s GPU-accelerated iray renderer inside Maya, at Siggraph 2013 next week. The software will be on show on the Nvidia booth.

Does what it says on the tin
The project integrates iray as an independent renderer inside Maya, in much the same way that it is currently available in 3ds Max.

According to the [0x1] website: “The seamless integration … places iray at your disposal as a renderer suitable for production with all its advantages and features in Maya.”

IrayForMaya will be available for Windows and Linux. To make use of its GPU-accelerated features, you’ll need an Nvidia graphics card with at least 2GB of video memory.

Other than that, there isn’t a lot of information yet: the software isn’t yet in beta, though you can register in advance via a link on the developer’s FAQ page.

[0x1] is aiming for a commercial release later this year, though pricing has yet to be announced.
