Eye candy: the third official Oblivion trailer is here!

I have to admit this one has been off my radar. Although this sci-fi flick stars Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman, and is directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy), to date its only official public showing has been as a poster – which raised more questions than it answered.

The new trailer won’t answer all those questions, but it did increase my interest. Though TRON: Legacy suffered from some pacing issues, Joseph Kosinski proved that he is a visually minded director, and more than capable of creating a beautiful film. I only hope that this time out, he has managed to make a good one as well.

Oblivion is released worldwide from 10 April 2013 and hits US screens on 12 April. Check out the trailer below.

Updated 21 January 2013: There’s a new TV spot for Oblivion. It’s shorter, and the shots are mostly the same as the trailer, but you do get to see a few new spaceship battles and a bit more of Morgan Freeman’s character.

Updated 28 February 2013: The third trailer is here, giving a little more insight into the story but also building on the mystery of the film. If you were on the fence before, this just might win you over.

This really seems like a genuinely good science-fiction film: something I feel I’ve been deprived of far too long.
