Ephere ships Ornatrix 2

V-Ray support in Ornatrix 1.8. Version 2 of the hair-simulation plugin also adds full support for 3ds Max’s MassFX physics system and a new, more accurate hair interpolation method.

Hard on the heels of Zookeeper 2, Ephere has released Ornatrix 2, a significant update to its 3ds Max hair-simulation plugin.

Ornatrix 2 adds full support for V-Ray, including GI, soft and area shaders, and support for V-Ray’s hair shaders and motion blur. V-Ray support was first introduced in Ornatrix 1.8 (shown above).

The update also introduces full support for the MassFX dynamics system introduced in 3ds Max 2012 and extended in 3ds Max 2013; and a new, more accurate hair interpolation method.

There are also the usual range of performance enhancements and bugfixes.

Ornatrix 2 is available now for 3ds Max 2009 and above, price $499. Anyone who purchased an Ornatrix licence in the past year will receive a free upgrade.

So far, hairtrix, which combines Ornatrix and hairfx, does not seem to have been updated.
