Blender Foundation releases Blender 2.65

A brief test of Blender 2.65’s new smoke simulation tools posted by BlenderDiplom.

The Blender Foundation has released Blender 2.65: the latest release of the open-source 3D package in its current cycle – and according to the developer, its most stable, with over 200 bugs fixed.

Headline feature this time out is fire simulation, along with other improvements to the smoke simulation system, including a new flow force field, mixing options and support for interactions with collision objects.

The new(ish) Cycles render engine also gets an update, with support for the Sony Pictures Imageworks-developed Open Shading Language, and there are a few updates to the mesh modelling and editing toolsets.
